FREEPORT( WIFR) -- Republican Presidential Hopeful Mitt Romney has not responded to Sensata workers' pleas for help to save their jobs.

Sensata workers say since Romney won't come to Freeport, they will go to him. Workers will travel to the GOP Convention in Tampa, Florida to get Romney to hear their requests and help end the outsourcing of jobs.

Former Sensata employee Joanne Penniston is just one of the four workers ready to go.

“We had a discussion amongst each other and thought it’d be a good idea since he has openly said, and Bain Capital has openly said that Romney has no knowledge of Sensata workers or their fight," Penniston said.

Sensata workers hosted a send-off barbecue Thursday for the four people heading to Florida and while they have received support from politicians including Republican Congressman Don Manzullo, workers have yet to hear from Romney.

"I think he can pick up a phone call and stop the practice of this right now,” said Cheryl Randecko, one of the four workers who is heading to Florida.

“We need to be focused on sending goods overseas, not jobs. I feel tremendously for these 170 families who are being impacted by this. I'm proud of them taking the effort to go down to the Republican National Convention and saying you know what enough of this, we're not going to put up with this anymore," said Cheri Bustos, the 17th District Democratic Candidate for Congress.

Some Sensata workers have been training their Chinese replacements. Most workers are afraid of looking for a new job and some say they're only option is to go back to school.

The four workers going are being sponsored by Stand-Up Chicago, which is a coalition of community and labor organizations.
