OGLE COUNTY (WIFR) – An Ogle County man will spend the next three years locked up after pleading guilty to driving drunk and crashing into a school bus near Rochelle last September.
66-year-old Neel Hanke was driving Westbound on Hemstock Road when he blew a stop sign at Center Road slamming into the bus. Ten kids were on board at the time of the accident. One kid was sent to the hospital as a precaution.
OGLE COUNTY (WIFR) -- An Olge County man pleads guilty to driving drunk and crashing into a school bus near Rochelle.
Back in September Neel Hanke, 66, was driving westbound on Hemstock Road when he blew a stop sign at Center Road slamming into the bus.
Hanke will be sentenced on June 30th.
According to Illinois State Police, 66-year-old Neel E. Hanke was driving westbound on Hemstock Road and failed to stop at Center Road. A school bus was heading northbound just before 4 p.m. Thursday. Hanke went through the intersection and collided with the side of the school bus.
Neele was taken to Rochelle Hospital and was later relocated to St. Anthony Medical Center. He is being charged with DUI and disobeying a traffic control device.
FLAGG (WIFR) -- Emergency crews are on the scene of an SUV vs. school bus crash near Rochelle.
The crash happened at the intersection of Hemstock and S. Center Road just before 4:00 in the town of Flagg, which is five miles northwest of Rochelle.
We're told 10 kids were on board the Rochelle School District bus at the time of the accident. The bus was dropping kids off from school.
One student and the driver of the SUV were taken to the hospital, with unknown injuries. Rochelle Fire officials say the child was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
