STATELINE (WIFR) -- You know the holidays are near, when you hear the familiar sound of bells ringing outside local stores.

Today the Salvation Army kicked off its 2012 Kettle Campaign in the Cherryvale Mall.

If you'd like to take part in the time honored tradition of bell-ringing, you can sign up for two hour shifts through Christmas Eve at quite a few area locations. You can find more information about how to volunteer here.
