ROSCOE (WIFR) – It’s been a struggle for years for Rockford to land a Stateline casino. Now, the village of Roscoe wants to try to cash in, by building a Stateline casino of their own.
The village wants to construct a new casino on a property on Willowbrook road, near I-90. The plan has to be approved by the Village Board and eventually the state. Village president, Dave Krienke wants to have a regional casino where surrounding communities would split the profits. That’s something Krienke says Rockford officials aren’t willing to do.
“Currently the proposal that I’m hearing from Rockford is that here’s no shared revenue and that concerns me because it’s money that’s going to affect all of us, so I think we should work together,” said Krienke.
The community economic development committee will discuss casino plans tomorrow night. A final decision by the village board is expected by next week.
