Rockford Drug Bust

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Members of the Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit received information that ecstasy pills were being sold from 746 Lee St. Upon learning this information the Narcotics began an investigation. As a result of this information a search warrant was obtained.

On 3/16/12 the Narcotics Unit, the M3 Streets Team, and the Community Services Unit executed a narcotics search warrant. One adult male was located inside the apartment and he was identified as Cornell L. Wilford. Upon searching the apartment officers located and recovered 80 pills which field tested positive for MDMA (ecstasy) as well as a 5 grams of cannabis. Wilford was taken into custody without incident and later lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.

Arrested: Wilford, Cornell L. 37, Rockford
Charges: Possession with intent to deliver controlled substance (80 pills of MDMA-Ecstasy) within 1,000 feet of Rockford Housing Authority Property and Possession of 2.5-10 grams of cannabis.
Bond: To be set by Judge (Felony charge)
Wilford is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
