ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford Spine Center is pleased to announce Dr. Fred Sweet is listed among 20 Naval Spine Leaders in Becker’s Orthopedic and Spine Review.
Dr. Sweet completed a tour of duty in the US Navy as a medical officer aboard the USS Coronado during the first Gulf War. He completed his medical degree from Rush University Medical School in Chicago. Dr. Sweet served an internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and a general surgery and orthopedic residency at Washington University in St. Louis.
He also served a spinal surgery fellowship at Washington University. Dr. Sweet is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois in Rockford.
Dr. Sweet is a co-founder of Rockford Spine Center and specializes in the surgical treatment of scoliosis, spinal deformities, and complex spine conditions. Additionally, he is a lead investigator into new methods of significantly decreasing surgical infections.
