ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Rockford Park District is now known as the best park district in the country. On Tuesday the organization received the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence from the National Recreation and Park Association. Rockford beat park districts from suburban Los Angeles, Austin, Texas and Denver, Colorado.
