Rockford Gas Prices Head on Downward Trend

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Gas prices are on their way down. Average prices in the Rockford area have fallen eight cents per gallon this week, averaging at $3.58 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy, that's still 12 cents per gallon higher than a month ago but 35 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Nationally, the average is a little higher than Rockford's, reportedly at $3.63 per gallon. National prices now are 14 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and three cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

"Further illustrating the downward trend, five percent of the country was over $4 per gallon Friday," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst, in a press release. "Last week, seven percent of the country was over $4 per gallon."
