ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford Firefighters responded to a house fire on the 2900 block of ninth street around 3 a.m. Monday morning.

When firefighters arrived on scene they could see heavy smoke and fire billowing out of the back of the house. The house was found to be condemned and the blaze was contained within 20 minutes.

Twenty firefighters responded to the scene and the fire was not a threat to any other properties. No reported injuries.

The estimated cost of repair is $5,500. The Fire inspector is looking to what sparked the fire.
