Rockford Area Arts Council Seeks Instruments for District 205 Students

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford students could be playing a different tune next year with your help.

The Rockford Arts Council collected used musical instruments at their office on State Street Saturday. They've teamed up with the Rockford Public School District to keep music alive in schools by adding more music programs for middle and high school students.

You can donate brass, string.. or woodwind instruments like clarinets. Organizers say it's important to make sure kids leave school on a good note.

"Not every child is an athlete, we know that the arts allow children to express themselves, it gives them an outlet for succeeding and it makes them want to go to school, if we can just put the arts programs back in," said Anne O'Keefe, President of the Rockford Area Arts Council.

You can still donate instruments by dropping them off at the Rockford Area Arts Council office.
