ROCKFORD (ARC) -- American Red Cross training such as CPR and first aid helps everyday people save lives. Through your participation in our health and safety programs, you enable the American Red Cross to provide lifesaving programs and services within our community. We truly value your support!

First Aid/CPR/AED Courses

A variety of Red Cross course combinations are available in First Aid, Adult CPR/AED, Child CPR/AED, and Infant CPR. All courses are considered appropriate for Lay Rescuers and reflect the latest science for First Aid/CPR and meet OSHA Guidelines for First Aid. Courses include lecture, interactive video demonstrations and hands-on training to teach participants lifesaving skills. Review classes are abbreviated versions of the FULL course and are intended for individuals who hold current certifications. Participant books are NOT included in a REVIEW course. NOTE: FULL and REVIEW option availability for many courses listed on our schedule.

CHALLENGE COURSES are also available on a one-on-one basis. Please inquire with chapter for details.
Adult CPR/AED

This course gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for breathing emergencies, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and learn how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
Certification: Adult CPR/AED (valid 2 yrs) Full Course: $55; Review: $47

First Aid
This course gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic first aid care for injuries and sudden illnesses until advanced medical personnel arrive. Skills covered include controlling bleeding, caring for muscle, bone, and joint injuries, treating burns, and responding to shock.

First Aid and Adult CPR/AED

Adult/Child/Infant CPR
This course teaches rescue breathing, procedures for choking and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adult, children and infants. Knowledge and skills are also taught for recognizing signs and symptoms of a heart attack and tips to reduce the risk of injury for children and infants. Certification: Adult/Child/Infant CPR (valid 2 yrs) Full Course: $60; Review: $52

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
This course combines a participant’s manual, lectures and video with hands-on skills training to cover the following areas:
• Responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants
• Using an AED on adult and child victims of cardiac arrest
• Using personal protective equipment to stop bloodborne pathogens and other diseases from spreading
Certification: CPR/AED for the Healthcare Provider (valid 2 yrs) or CPR/AED for Lifeguards (valid 1 yr)

Babysitter’s Training
If you’re 11 to 15 years old, you can get the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. This course has recently been updated, expanded and redesigned for today’s
babysitters – and includes cool new products to make the course more engaging than ever.
