UPDATE: Rochelle Police Department Make Arrest in Baby Formula Thefts

UPDATE: The Rochelle Police Department received several Crime Stopper tips regarding the thefts of nearly 40 cans of baby formula that occurred in the last week.

As a result of these tips detectives were able to locate and arrest 22-year-old Frances Taylor of Rockford Illinois, on the charge of Retail Theft, a Class 3 felony.

Taylor was transported to the Ogle County Jail to await a bond hearing.

Detectives have identified the remaining two suspects and those arrests are pending.


ROCHELLE (WIFR) -- On Saturday April 13th, 2013 the Rochelle Police Department responded to Walgreens reference the theft of baby formula. Surveillance footage shows three women entering the store and proceeding to the baby formula, where 20 cans of formula are taken.

On Tuesday April 23rd, 2013 the Rochelle Police Department responded to Super Walmart reference the theft of baby formula. Surveillance footage shows three women, two of which have small children with them, proceeding to the baby formula, where 18 cans of formula are taken.

Comparison of the Walgreen video and the Super Walmart video shows that at least two of the women appear to be involved in both thefts. It is believed that these subjects are responsible for similar thefts as well.

The Super Walmart video shows the suspects leaving the store and getting into a gold/tan 4-door sedan.
