ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A Rockford couples dream of making the Rock River a little brighter comes true.
The Rockford Park District held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday afternoon on the Riverby Bridge, which is just north of the Spring Creek Road. During the ceremony they flicked the switch turning the bridge's lights on for the first time.
The lighting project is a tribute to the former park district commissioner Chuck Brown and his wife, Becky. The couple dreamed of lighting a bridge on the river to show off the beauty of the Forest City. The park district raised $50,000 for the lighting project.
