JOLIET, Ill. (AP) -- A northern Illinois man who served a seven-year term for a drunken driving accident that killed a young girl is heading back to prison.
The Will County State's Attorney's Office says 34-year-old Glen Higginbotham of Yorkville was sentenced Monday to eight years in prison for more DUI offenses.
Higginbotham's previous prison stint stemmed from a reckless homicide conviction in a 1999 crash that killed a 10-year-old girl. Authorities say his blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he smashed into the car in which the girl was riding.
Higginbotham pleaded guilty to DUI and driving with a revoked license in 2010 after he was found sleeping in his car while intoxicated. And in November, a judge found him guilty of identical charges stemming from a 2011 crash.
