ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It was a long weekend for members of the U.S. House. Before returning to Washington, D.C. our two congressmen met with families in the area to get ideas on what missions should get priority.
Congressman Adam Kinzinger met with a packed room of constituents at Rock Valley College. His big focus was learning what he can do to help spur growth in the manufacturing sector. When the House reconvenes lawmakers could vote on sweeping immigration reform. We asked Congressman Kinzinger what kind of law he could support.
"I do believe the border has to be secured and then once that's done and verified i think we need to move forward on what to do with those that are here and how to fix the system so we never have to come back to this problem again," Kinzinger said.
Congresswoman Cheri Bustos was also in Rockford on Monday. She read to students at Lewis Lemon Elementary School.
