ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Plans to raise tuition at Rock Valley College remains in limbo. Trustees voted down a plan Tuesday night to raise tuition to $99 per credit hour, that's $6 more than it is now.
We're told tuition still has to go up in order to qualify for certain grants. The finance committee is going to re-evaluate what's possible so the school could get more income for capital improvement projects.
RVC Student Trustee Daniel Slabaugh says "Compare what we have in town, we have our 93 or if we got the $5 increase, 98 versus around four or five hundred, we're still the best deal in town and I would rather increase tuition than do without services that would impact students."
If a tuition increase is passed, it would go into effect staring in Fall of 2013.
