RSO Adds Special Lunchtime Matinee

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -– The Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) will present a special lunchtime performance on Friday, April 26, at 11:30 a.m. at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, 314 N. Main St., Rockford, IL 61103.

Due to the positive response from last year’s Beethoven Live! matinee performance, the RSO will present this new concert on April 26, 2013. This 60-minute performance will feature Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 along with Mendelssohn’s Nocturne from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Strauss’ Blue Danube. The orchestra will be led by RSO Music Director Steven Larsen.

While the concert is open to the public, it targets members of the community for whom a regular RSO Saturday evening Classics Series concert is challenging to attend due to transportation or other issues. The opportunity to hear the region’s finest professional symphony orchestra and attend a performance at the Coronado Performing Arts Center would also be a good experience for students from elementary through high school from public, private, parochial, and home school groups.

Concert attendance is general admission; $5 for students (22 and under) and $10 for adults. To purchase tickets, please call the RSO Box Office at 815-965-0049 or visit
