ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Six Rockford Public Schools have been under construction since the summer and today students were able to experience the finished product.
Johnson Elementary along with five other Rockford Public Schools revealed their completed renovations this morning.
Johnson received a new addition with a cafeteria and resource center. Prior to the improvements, the gym was split between lunch and recess, but now the school has some much needed space.
“It spreads us out a little bit. It makes it more of an exciting place to be. The kids are excited because things are nice and new and fresh, but they are also having their own space to use,” said Principal Amber Miller.
Guilford, East, Auburn, and 3 middle schools will have their renovations take place in 2014.
