ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- London and Honolulu are officially added to the list of Rockford Airport destinations.

23 News spoke to local travel agents and Mokulele Airlines for more on when we can start making travel arrangements.

Flight Attendant Anita Jalbert said, "Going to be able to fly to Honolulu out of Rockford, this is such a great airport! This is so exciting!"

Jalbert flew from LA to Hawaii for thirty years as a flight attendant with United Airlines.

She said, "I flew out of Chicago to Paris, never to London, but I know it's just going to be wonderful for us that live here and around here!"

The U.S. Department of transportation just approved two exciting destinations for the Rockford Airport. Starting this spring we could fly RFD to Honolulu and London.

Travel Agent Jammie Nieves said, "It appears the airport will be sending out information hopefully next week on when we can have the availability to book and stuff like that. So we don't have any information this time on cost or what the actual schedules will be."

Mokulele Airlines is handling both destinations and will offer Sunday departures with Friday arrivals. Travel agents believe the flights will be full.

Nieves said, "Hawaii there kind of died off there for a little while, but I think the interest has picked up again on Hawaii."

Jalbert is now retired and feels Stateliners will love the experience.

She said, "It's a wonderful flight. You have a meal, and a movie, and just the landing in Hawaii... you step off and you feel the warm breeze and the smell of the orchids and the smell of plumerias... it's just going to be wonderful!"

Many feel the best part is having the convenience and hassle-free arrival home.

A rep from Mokulele Airlines tells us they are very excited for their new destination. They plan to share ballpark how much flights will cost and flight times sometime this week.
