ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Wreckage from Monday night's deadly helicopter crash is headed to Kansas for forensic testing.

The National Transportation Safety Board's Chief Investigator is also looking for more witnesses. RMH’s medical helicopter went down suddenly in Compton, killing the pilot and two flight nurses. Investigators say they will continue to look at weather conditions, dispatch communications, and maintenance records to try and figure out what happened. In the meantime, a memorial fund has been set up for the victims through the Rockford Memorial Development Foundation.

The health system has also set up a special e-mail address so the public can share their memories and condolences. A special memorial service will be held Wednesday, December, 19th at RVC’s physical education center. We'll be streaming the service live, here on our webchannel.

ROCHELLE, Ill. (AP) -- Federal investigators are moving the wreckage of a deadly medical helicopter crash outside Rockford to Kansas for forensic examinations.

National Transportation Safety Board chief investigator Arnold Scott tells the Chicago Tribune on Wednesday that he also plans to speak to more witnesses. The Monday night crash left the pilot and two nurses dead. The plane crash was near Rochelle, about 70 miles west of Chicago. The pilot had radioed about bad weather on the way to Mendota to pick up a patient and said he would turn back to Rockford.

Scott says federal investigators will look at weather conditions, the pilot's flight history and medical records, dispatch communications and the helicopter's maintenance records.

Scott says he documented the crash site and has examined the wreckage.
