FREEPORT (WIFR) -- FHN and Sodexo will offer a spring session of Create Your Weight for Kids, a kids’ version of the popular, personalized weight reduction and management program developed and taught by registered dietitians.
The 10-week program, designed to be attended by one adult with each child, begins April 4, with classes each Thursday from 5 to 5:45 p.m. at FHN Memorial Hospital, 1045 W. Stephenson Street in Freeport. Topics to be covered include:
• Portions and servings
• Making good choices when dining out
• Snacking
• Importance of physical activity
• Family involvement in healthy behaviors
• Building self-esteem and confidence
• Knowing the difference between eating when you’re hungry vs. other reasons
The cost of the program, including all class sessions for each adult-and-child pair and healthy snacks, is $125. Kids in the class earn “Nutribucks” that can be redeemed for prizes, and those who complete the class will also receive a free trial membership from the YMCA of Northwest Illinois at Highland Community College in Freeport.
