POPLAR GROVE (WIFR) -- The bike park in Poplar Grove is getting a face lift for its users just before their big summer rush as kids will soon be out of school.
The property was once privately owned. It's now property of the Village of Poplar Grove. So the bike park will operate just like any other park, especially in terms of liability if someone were to get hurt. The park is completely made of dirt, however it can be changed or moved if there is ever an issue.
“If we build this track next week and find out that there is something we don't like about it we will bring the bobcats out and redo it again next month,” says Earl Eggert, President of Stateline BMX.
“That's the ideal thing about the dirt and that way the village liked. It's like here; you can have the property and put the dirt there. If it all works out for you guys great, if it doesn't work out for you, we will just turn it into a soccer field."
The Village hopes to finish setting up the course this week, before school's out for summer. The park usually attracts nearly two dozen bikers on any given night.
