CHICAGO (AP) -- Police searching a forest preserve have found the body of a Chicago-area woman who disappeared the same day she was to have traveled to Florida to visit her husband.
The body of 61-year-old Maria Carlsen, from the northwest suburb of North Barrington, was discovered in a drainage tunnel. Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran says bottles of prescription drugs and a bottle of water were found with her. He says there were no signs of foul play, but investigators were awaiting toxicology reports.
Carlsen was supposed to fly to Florida Tuesday. Her family last heard from her the day before.
Authorities who were asked to check on her found only her packed bags at her home. Police then discovered her car at a restaurant and searched a nearby wooded area.
