UPDATE: Police Bust Marijuana Grower in Machesney Park

UPDATE: Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputies were in the area of the 3000 block of Bauer Drive around 8pm Saturday evening.

While the officers were on patrol they could smell a strong odor of marijuana. The decision was made to call in a K9 unit to search the area. The dog lead them to a house where police then saw a man pacing inside the home.

As soon as police approached the door the man became violent and began to shut blinds and smash things with an ax. Police believed the man was smashing evidence and forced entry into the home.

Ryan Novak,36, was quickly arrested for violating the cannabis control act and is being housed in jail.

Police Deputies confiscated 15 lbs of marijuana and 100 pot plants during the siege.
