ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Plans are in the works to shore up sections of Keith Creek in Rockford where retaining walls have almost completely eroded.
Heavy rains earlier this spring led to the collapse of several barriers near 5th Street. Some of them are dangerously close to homes in that area. In order to prevent further erosion. The city plans to spend around $200 to build sturdier retaining walls in that area. Some of the ones that currently line the creek are more than 70 years old. The new walls to be in place before next spring.
