ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Most parents of Dist. 205 high schoolers will soon have access to the Parent Portal. They can check their kids' grades, attendance and test scores online.
The system will include up to 11,000 students, however Roosevelt High School will not be included as of now, since students change frequently.
A letter will go out to parents on Friday, giving them a user name and password so they can log on. The letter will also detail the site and how it works.
Meantime the district's ten-year facilities plan is moving along. It's almost done forming a steering committee made up of about 30 community members and up to eight more teachers could join the group.
The committee will help gather data on all of the districts schools and see what improvements need to be made. The group could hold its first official meeting next week.
"We're looking at every single facility, every single school building, what we need to make it a world-class 21st century, school-learning environment. We need the community input, everybody has great ideas," explains Chief Operations Officer Todd Schmidt.
District 205 is also currently spring cleaning its new administration building. They expect to start moving smaller departments into the former AMCORE building next week.
