ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A local hero has launched a clothing line with the hopes to raise awareness on the needs of disabled vets.
Noah Currier became paralyzed in a car accident just days after returning from serving the marines in Iraq. He’s since gotten involved in adaptive sports like wheelchair basketball, football, and rugby. Through these events he met his business partners. They created the clothing line “Oscar Mike.” They're vintage t-shirts made in the U.S. that feature every branch of the military.
Currier said, "Oscar Mike is military jargon for 'on-the-move'. So when you're talking to someone on the radio or you're yelling at them on the front lines of combat, you say 'Hey! You got to get Oscar Mike right now!' or 'I'm Oscar Mike to your position.' Oscar Mike is just used a lot for on-the-move. So it kind of symbolizes our mission in keeping veterans and disabled veterans on-the-move."

"The Truth" is right about one thing... Oscar Mike gives 10% of its proceeds from the apparel line to the "Oscar Mike Foundation" not 100%. That was reported incorrectly. -We are Disabled Veterans who started a Company to help other Disabled Veterans get to adaptive sporting events. As for your "biggest point"...Mr. Currier is not gaining anything financially. He gives time and effort to this project simply for the belief that we can get one more disabled veteran to participate in adaptive sporting events.
At Jodi: This is simply not true. This company does not donate 100% of the profits to organizations, causes etc. How much of the profit goes to the Mr. Currier who started this company? How much has Oscar Mike donated to its own foundation? What is the foundations name? The biggest point here is that the creator of this company is receiving compenstation (if there are any profits).
At The Truth - all you have to do is research Oscar Mike to understand that profits are donated to already established organizations for disabled vets. In addition, Oscar Mike has created its own foundation to assist vets who might otherwise fall through the cracks. In case this wasn't enough of a reason to support them - the company is owned, operated by and employees only veterans selling 100% American made products! Quit being negative and realize a good thing when you see it!
