North Towne Mall Businesses Improving

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Ron Quest came all the way from Rochelle to shop at North Towne mall.

"We had seen the advertising on tv and that's what brought us to Gustafson's."

More people are flocking to the strip mall. And now they'll have even more places to shop. North Towne has been quickly filling up vacant spots. Tranquillity, a new massage parlor, Sports Dome a jersey store just opened this week. Bago's videos also recently opened in the mall. The Property manager says a pawn shop opens in the next month, leaving only one vacant spot in the entire mall.

"We noticed they're putting more stores in because that's great we like to see more stores and businesses come in bring some people around."

Gustafson's credits the moderately priced rent making it more attractive for businesses and allowing competitive pricing for customers.

"People are concerned about value, the rents are right and it allows us to have our prices moderated and people want value today and we're able to give them that value. There are some rents in town that are so high it starts to make a difference what the sofa sells for."
