WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- A new partnership will allow the sheriff's departments in Winnebago and Rock Counties to keep contact during an emergency.
Both departments are now using computer software called Adobe Connect. It allows officers to use the laptops inside their squads to share important information in real-time,like jail records, mug shots and order of protection. Sheriff Dick Meyers says it also allows officers to log into a chat room to see what area law enforcement are talking about.
"For law enforcement the more information you have the better off you and the better you can serve the citizens. The safer it is for our officers so its only a natural progression to share as much as we with as many people we can and i think that makes all of us in the region a little more effective an efficient," Meyers said.
Meyers says the sheriff's department bought the computer software through drug money
