STATELINE (WIFR) -- Good news for local motorists, the cost of gas for driving is falling, but unfortunately it’s also the time of year prices for gas to heat our homes tend to rise. As we head into the winter season, current natural gas prices appear to be stable.

“We don’t anticipate any spikes but another driving force on that is the weather and supply and demand. If we get a severe, cold winter it could impact that, but again, the projection is the average cost is about $50 for heating a home,” said Bernie Anderson with Nicor Gas.

To lower bills, Anderson also recommends cleaning out our furnaces, checking that windows and doors are sealed, and letting sunlight in during the day.
