ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Young men learning today how to become successful leaders in our community in the future.

Rockford high school and RVC students took part in the Annual Minority Male leadership conference today. The Young Men took part in Workshops learning how to apply their skills to leadership opportunities in the area. They also heard from Representative Chuck Jefferson who talked about the importance of a good education.

"If you're uneducated you don't know how to become a leader. You don't know what it takes to become a leader. Through education presents so many opportunities for you to go on and do whatever you need to do, be a leader in the community,” said Rep. Jefferson.

Jefferson says he just got back from Africa and China where students wanted to be in America to get better educations. He tried impressing that message on the young men at today’s conference.
