ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Midway Theater still has no permanent roof after a partial collapse last spring. According to the city of Rockford, the owner had until December 1st to install a roof and weatherproof the building. That hasn't happened, so now the owner must appear at a hearing later this month. He could be slapped with a minimum $45,000 fine.
"It's an important building to the city of Rockford and we want to see it repaired. It's the responsibility of the property owner and we're going to be pursuing all legal action and we'll continue to pursue legal action til the enforcement of it."
There are no plans for the city to take over the building.
