Third Man Arrested in Dixon Pipe Bomb Case

DIXON (WIFR) -- A third suspect has been arrested for his alleged involvement with a pipe bomb that was found near the Dixon Correctional Facility.

27-year-old Stephen Long of Dixon is now in the Lee County Jail.

Two other men, 31-year-old Zachary Chaffer and 32-year-old Scott Williams were arrested earlier this week. All three men are charged with unlawful use of a weapon.


DIXON (WIFR) -- Winnebago County's bomb squad helped blow up a pipe bomb found near the Dixon Correctional Facility.

Lee County Sheriff's Deputies say they found 31-year-old Zachary Chaffer and 32-year-old Scott Williams with the pipe bomb on Sunday. The men told officers they bought it near a bar in Dixon.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department came to help destroy the bomb.

Chaffer and Williams are charged with unlawful use of a weapon.
