Meijer Statement:
Meijer has land under contract in both Rockford and Machesney Park and we are in the due diligence phase regarding any potential future stores. What this means is there are no current or approved plans for a store, we are simply having conversations with the community. Having the land under contract locks a price and holds the property for us until we decide if we are going to build a store. The short answer is we are considering the sites but have not made a decision yet.

STATELINE (WIFR) -- Two new super stores could be setting up shop in the Stateline.
Meijer Public Relations Director Frank J. Guglielmi tells us they are looking at land in both Rockford and Machesney Park.
Village leaders say the Machesney Park location would be on 27 acres of land off of IL 173, between Forest Hills and Perryvile Roads. The potential Rockford location hasn't been revealed.
No official decision has been made on both locations.
Meijer is a grocery and retail superstore based out of Michigan.
