Man Gets Six Year Sentence for Dealing Marijuana
Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announced today that on January 27, 2012 Bashir Jihadbaaree (D.O.B. 4/24/77) was found guilty of Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis after a bench trial in front of Honorable Gary V. Pumilia and was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announced today that on January 27, 2012 Bashir Jihadbaaree (D.O.B. 4/24/77) was found guilty of Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis after a bench trial in front of Honorable Gary V. Pumilia and was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
On March 16th, 2011, members of the Rockford Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 323 North Church Street, Timeless Touch Barber Shop where Officers located Bashir Jihadbaaree in the building. While searching the defendant Officer’s recovered, automobile keys, US Currency as well as a clear plastic baggie that contained a green plant like material which field tested positive for the probable presence of cannabis. Police observed a black Chevy Suburban parked outside of the barber shop which was registered to the defendant. Detectives observed inside the vehicle in plain view several loose pieces of cannabis buds. Jihadbaaree consented to a search of the vehicle in which Officers located loose cannabis buds as well as one box of sandwich baggies, a digital scale, and a black cloth bag containing 27 small individual zip lock baggies that later tested positive for cannabis. Total weight of the cannabis recovered was 19.46 grams.
Possession with Intent to Deliver is a Class 4 Felony with a sentencing range of 1-3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections however due to his prior criminal history the defendant was eligible for an extended term sentence of up to 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and was sentenced to 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Doug, your spot on with this. I'm sure he had no lawyer, and if you don't, your screwed in this city. Your right as the people who are imprisoned most are just like the victims of the Jim Crow laws. How pathetic in the wealthiest country the unjust and outright racism exists in the court system in so many states.It really doesn't surprise me to much considering most people in power are conservative and have the "Tough on crime" stance which makes me puke.
All throwing this poor guy in jail for just a little pot will do, is turn him into a real criminal. Now, he will have to learn to survive in general population. So, he will probably have to join a gang in order to protect himself. This is fricken ridiculous. Marijuana grows naturally from the Earth, it is MEANT to be here. How is locking this poor guy up for SIX YEARS going to resolve ANYTHING other than justifying the DEA's and DOC's consumption of tax dollars? I say its about time we throw these worthless goons out of Washington and city hall, because they're only in it for the money. They could care less about the effects of their policies. Keeping drugs illegal keeps a disproportionate amount of blacks in jail, and inevitably perpetuates the cross-generational effects of poverty; which inevitably leads to more blacks in prison. Drug laws are modern day Jim Crow laws. They disproportionately impact the black community, and are policed in such a way as to guarantee that happens. When was the last time that a stoner started a brawl, or robbed a store? That's right. Pot just makes you lazy. That's it. If a man wishes to spend his life being lazy, let him. It's none of anyone's business what a man does with his free time, as long as this man does not infringe upon anyone else's rights and autonomy. Of course, most middle class Americans don't care about what I'm saying. They don't care if someone else has different harmless, victimless preferences, and if they are stripping the freedoms of that person, just for the ILLUSION of safety. Middle class Americans love to embrace hypocrisy, because the moment their rights are infringed upon, they will march on Washington and town hall. I can't wait to move out of this Nanny State.
