Man Robbed While Attempting to Change Tire

ROCKTON (WIFR) -- Around 10:30 am today, a 32 year-old South Beloit man was robbed at knifepoint as he attempted to change a flat tire.

Joshua Reuter had stopped on Illinois Highway 2 near the Old River Road bridge to change a flat tire when a red car, possibly a Geo Metro or similar make, stopped to offer aid. Three white males, described as “teenagers” approached and when told he was nearly finished, one of the males, described as having long dark brown hair and a black “heavy metal band” t-shirt put a knife to his neck and demanded money.

He complied with the demand as one of the other suspects rummaged through his car. The victim was then pushed down the embankment and punched in the face. He received injuries from the punch and subsequent roll through thorns and brush. He refused hospital treatment.

The suspects fled north in the red vehicle. The victim was unable to see a license plate.
