JO DAVIESS COUNTY (WIFR) -- An Apple River man is dead after being struck by a car in rural Stockton.
According to the Jo Daviess Sheriff's Office, someone called 911 before 8:30 p.m. Monday to report a man was kneeling on Highway 20 just east of North Canyon Park Road.
At that time, a car heading west on Highway 20 couldn't avoid hitting 88-year-old Walter Ludwisiak, Sr. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver's identity is not being released at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
