MONROE TOWNSHIP (WIFR) -- Captain Richard Wilson has been appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of the Monroe Township Fire District.
Previously he has been a career Lieutenant with the Bartlett Fire Protection District and is certified as a Fire Officer II, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Investigator and has served on the Technical Rescue Team. Currently, Deputy Chief Wilson is working on his Bachelors Degree in Fire Science Administration. He is a lead instructor for the Elgin Community College in their fire science program.
His responsibilities for the Monroe Township Fire District will include maintaining the training officer role, record keeping and instructing or assisting department trainings. His added responsibilities will include administration duties with personnel, coaching, mentoring and tutoring our members to maintain a safe working environment and to aid our customers when called upon. He will be assisting with the budgeting process, vehicle acquisitions and grant writings. He will be working closely with our neighbors to incorporate joint trainings when staffing allows along with maintaining working relationships.
Similarly, Captain Michaelle Jaeger has completed Instructor II from the Illinois Fire Service Institute.
Michaelle has completed 40 hours of intense training that will allow her to set up outlines that which firefighters utilize to instruct from on various disciplines. Michaelle has a background in education and is currently working on her doctorate from Northern Illinois University. This level of certification moves Michaelle closer to becoming a state certified Fire Officer II.
