Machesney Park Railroad Track Washed Out Due to Heavy Rains

MACHESNEY PARK (WIFR) -- A Machesney Park railroad track has been washed out due to the heavy rains.

Neighbors say it looks more like a land slide you would see in California. But it's due to excess water. It's on the tracks just west of the Rock River about a quarter mile north of Hhutchins Road. A Winnebago County Sheriff Deputy was on the scene and the railroad company Canadian Pacific was notified to divert trains from the area. You may recall it was washed out tracks near Mulford and Sandy Hallow Roads in 2009 that led to a train derailment and explosion that killed a pregnant woman.
