Local Polish Woman Recognized for Heritage

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- In honor of Women's History Month, a local mother is being recognized for serving her family and our community.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- 77 year old Stella Kubiak is one of five women being honored by the Ethnic Heritage Museum this month. She was born in Poland before ending up in the Rockford area where she's spent her life working and celebrating her heritage. We're told she makes awesome pierogis for the Stateline's annual Polish Fest, among many of other things.

She gave us a life lesson bu saying, "Live everyday like your last and make the best of it because we never know what's around the corner."

Stella volunteers at the Heartland Hospice Center.

The muesum will honor a new woman every week, each representing their different heritage.
