LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- Sixty percent of people in the United States are eligible to donate blood, but sadly only five percent actually do. That's why a local blood center is trying to get more people to roll up their sleeves.
Today was the 13th annual Rock 'n’ Roll Up Your Sleeve blood and marrow drive. The event put on by rock station 104.9 FM and the Rock River Valley Blood Center was held at Park Lanes. Dozens of people showed up to not only donate but to bowl and win some prizes. Organizers say O+ is the most needed blood type.
If you're interested in donating blood, contact the Rock River Valley Blood Center at (815) 965-8751 or you can visit the center at 419 North 6th Street in Rockford.
