Local Fire Departments Receive Equipment Grants

STATELINE (WIFR) -- Over $4 million is going to fire departments statewide for fire safety equipment, including some Stateline fire crews.

According to a press release, the investment will help with purchases of protective clothing, breathing apparatus and other safety tools for firefighters. These small equipment grants are supported by a small percentage of the sales of all fire insurance sold in Illinois. Departments are eligible for grants up to $26,000.

Local fire departments receiving grants include:

- Belvidere Fire Department: $23,598
- Milledgeville Fire Protection District: $17,115
- Genoa-Kingston Fire Protection District: $26,000
- Sandwich Community Fire Protection District: $20,000
- East Dubuque Volunteer Fire Department: $26,000
- Menominee-Dunleith Fire Protection District: $26,000
- Stillman Fire Protection District: $15,419
- Rock City Fire Protection District: $7,275
- Prophetstown Fire Protection District: $25,340
- Rock Falls Fire Department: $12,000
- Sterling Fire Department: $20,000
- Harlem Roscoe Fire Protection District: $16,500
