Local Faith Leaders Address Local Drug Issues

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Drug crimes are a big problem in the Stateline and nationwide and local faith leaders are trying to address the problem.

Community members gathered at Katie's Cup in Rockford today to watch the documentary called "The House I Live In." Some famous people helped produce the film, including actors Brat Pitt and Danny Glover. The movie shows how cheap and easy it is for people to get drugs, and how it's tearing communities apart. A local activist says we have to work to fix the problem.

Christopher Sims, Community Activist, says, "But what we can do is look at solutions to the problems and stop putting people in jail without any rehabilitation programs and even jobs after they're going through these programs or have served their time in jail."

In the past 40 years, the war on drugs has accounted for about 45 million arrests.
