BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- Thousands head out to embrace some electronics.
More than 2,000 radio enthusiasts are enjoying Chicago FM Club's annual Radio Expo 2012 at the Boone County Fairgrounds. Over 200 vendors were on-hand selling new and vintage radio equipment. Organizers say our own smart phones are the new age of radio.
Don Wondolkowski, Chicago FM Club Expo Chairman, says, "New iPads that they have out there, and the Androids, and all that. They now have the technology to talk on the hand band. They do it through a system called Echo Link. And it all done over the Internet. And it's fantastic. It incorporates the new with the old and the old with the new. And they all become interchangeable."
