ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Big troubles for Cliffbreakers. The State of Illinois revoked its liquor license and is now banning alcohol from being served on the property. The state says Cliffbreakers owes more than $400,000 in taxes. In March, it offered to set up a payment plan with the hotel and conference center. In exchange, Cliffbreakers was allowed to bring in an outside caterer to serve alcohol, but now, a state spokesperson says Cliffbreakers did not comply with the payment plan.
The only way the liquor license can be restored is if they pay back taxes.
The owner of Cliffbreakers denies the situation and says they’re serving alcohol and making payments on time. He says he has not received the notification which the state has posted on its website.
