ROCKFORD (WIFR) – A popular actress from the small screen spoke to a big crowd in Rockford about environmental activism.
Daryl Hannah was the keynote speaker at Giovanni’s today for the 7th Annual Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful awards luncheon.
Hannah promoted everyone to start living a sustainable lifestyle.
In addition to starring in movies like Blade Runner and Kill Bill, she’s also been shooting environmental documentaries. Hannah talked about ways we can preserve natural resources in our area.

Daryl Hannah will be the keynote speaker at the Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful annual Earth Day Luncheon. The group will present its Environmental Excellence Awards at the luncheon. “Nominations for “Environmental Steward of the Year” and the “Hutchcroft Environmental Youth Award” are due February 28. The luncheon is April 3rd, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Giovanni’s Restaurant. Tickets are $50 per person; corporate tables of 10 with additional benefits are still available. Daryl Hannah has starred and acted in more than 50 films and has been an effective, passionate activist and advocate for a more ethical sustainable world for decades. She is the founder of the Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance (SBA), which is a certification program and set of best practices for sustainably produced, harvested and distributed biofuels. Hannah sits on several boards including the Environmental Media Association (EMA); Sylvia Earle Alliance; Mission Blue; the Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance; the World Futures Council; and the Action Sports Environmental Coalition. She has received numerous awards for her advocacy and activism.
