JO DAVIESS COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Department is warning us about a possible internet and phone scam involving Microsoft.
Sheriff Kevin Turner says in this particular scam, the offender will try to gain remote access to your personal computer or laptop. The offender may also ask about e-mail addresses that you may have. The offender(s) is trying to "hack" into your computer in order to gain information such as name, address, e-mail address, passwords, bank account information, and/or anything else they can find in your computer.
Officials say do not give any information such as email address or IP address. Also, do not provide any other personal information.
