JANESVILLE - A Janesville man has been arrested for driving while intoxicated after crashing into a house.
Janesville police say at about 12:30 a.m., an officer spotted 17-year-old Jonathan Jimenez driving a white pickup truck at the intersection of West Milwaukee and South Locust streets. The officer knew Jimenez had a suspended drivers’ license and turned around to stop the vehicle. Jimenez allegedly ran through a red light at West Milwaukee and South Academy streets, with police losing sight of the truck.
Janesville police say they found the truck crashed into the residence at 627 Rockport Road. According to a press release, Jimenez tried to flee but was taken into custody. Two other injured passengers were present and a fourth fled the scene. Jimenez was arrested for two counts of operating while intoxicated causing injury, recklessly endangering safety and reckless driving causing injury, as well as one count of operating after suspension, red light violation and underage drinking.
The residents were home at the time and were not injured but the house sustained significant structural damage.
The three injured occupants of the truck were sent to Mercy Hospital. Two passengers were treated and released; Jimenez remains there.
According to a press release, a portable breath test confirmed Jimenez had been drinking. The results of a blood sample are still pending.
