ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Firefighters are investigating two serious fires that both happened abandoned properties.
The first is believed to have been set intentionally. It broke out at a vacant home in the 900 block of Acorn Street on Rockford’s northwest side. It took firefighters 15 minutes to get it under control, but they say more than $20,000 in damage was already done.
A barn just off the bypass near Main Street also caught fire and is considered a total loss. It was owned by BMO Harris Bank. A driver spotted the flames before midnight last night. There is no word yet on what may have caused it.
