LENA (WIFR) – Illinois’ future teachers are helping to spruce up the Lena-Winslow school district.
“It’s important to us as teachers to work with the community we teach in. We’re a part of this community and we love seeing the before and after. It’s amazing how much we can get done in one day,” said Krissi Gashaw, Community Outreach Coordinator.
Student teachers are pairing up with members of the Illinois Education Association to do community service projects. Today they helped to paint eh high school gym and did some planting near the junior high and elementary schools. It’s all part of their “Outreach to Teach” program.
